Another Chance to hear the Australia Piano Quartet with Konstantin Shamray

We love great concerts, even when they are not part of our own concert series!

Remember what a terrific performance the Australia Piano Quartet with guest Konstantin Shamray gave to open our 2019 concert series?

Here's another opprtunity to experience that magic. Serafico magic to be precise. What's more it's free. Thank you UTS!

Konstantin Shamray piano, Harry Bennetts violin, James Wannan viola, Thomas Rann cello

SERAFICO celebrates the transcendental and divine qualities of chamber music through a diverse program of works by Ross Edwards, Brahms and neglected Russian master Sergei Taneyev. Ross Edwards' Piano Quartet, co-commissioned by APQ, explores the beauty of the Australian landscape through impressionistic story-telling and driving rhythmic verve. Brahms' Clarinet Trio, presented here in his alternate version for viola, communicates the most intimate and profound thoughts of an aging genius reflecting on his legacy. Taneyev's extraordinary and rarely-heard Piano Quartet epitomises the glory and opulence of the last Russian Tsars, while surveying a kaleidoscopic range of compositional techniques, references and innovations.

Join APQ together with guest violinist Harry Bennetts (Sydney Symphony Associate Concertmaster) and Sydney International Piano Competition winner Konstantin Shamray for this transporting recital, held in the heart of the UTS precinct in the stunning acoustics of the Eugene Goossens Hall, ABC Ultimo Centre.
