Sophie Rowell and Kristian Chong

Sophie Rowell (violin), Kristian Chong (piano)

".....both Sophie (violin) and Kristian (piano) were excellent performers, because of the partnership that they developed in all the pieces, with both parts being equal. This was what the music demanded, and they delivered, with very great quality. I can also say with absolute certainty that they have brilliant technique, because as a violinist and pianist, I couldn’t see or feel what was hard or easy to play in their parts."

Programme Notes

This respected duo make a welcome return with four canonical duo Sonatas.  The exquisite gracefulness of Mozart's G major Sonata is paired with Brahms’ elegant yet passionate second Sonata.  Beethoven's highly dramatic C minor Sonata is followed by Ravel's charming Blues Sonata, nicknamed due to its second movement being heavily influenced by the blues.

Programmes (containing notes) are free and will be available at the door to the Concert Hall.
