Sydney Mozart Society brings you Mozart and much more from the 'Golden Age' of Chamber music.
Thank you AWO Chamber Ensemble
The Australian World Orchestra (AWO) brings together some of Australia’s most successful classical musicians now working around the world. As well as symphonic performances, the AWO presents a series of chamber music concerts that showcase the exceptional talents of its musicians. We were fortunate that on Friday night (27 April 2018) one of those rare chamber music concerts was presented for Sydney Mozart Society. On stage were:
Francesco Celata, clarinet (Associate Principal Clarinet, Sydney Symphony Orchestra)
Daniel Dodds, violin (Concertmaster & Artistic Director, Lucerne Festival Strings)
Natalie Chee, violin (1st Concertmaster, SWR Symphony Orchestra, Germany)
Sally Clarke, viola (SWR Symphony Orchestra, Germany)
David Berlin, ‘cello (Principal ‘Cello, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra)
Tamara-Anna Cislowska, piano (Soloist and Chamber Music Specialist)
The magic of this performance was listening to how 6 musicians, who would usually play in diverse music ensembles around the world each with their own repertoire, style and character, could come together with such effortless rapport. Their different musical ideas and experiences created a unique performance full of energy and finesse.
The ensemble’s concert began with Mozart’s Kegelstatt trio K 498, a joyous expression of musical friendship. The mood changed with the autumnal tones and mellowness of the clarinet quintet op 115 composed by an aging Brahms. Schumann’s piano quintet op 115 brought the concert to a close with its intensity, rich textures and passion.
Tony Bourke from ClassikON came to the concert "...perfect throughout," he said, "with feeling for the music matched by accuracy, synchronicity, and flair. Credit also goes to the Sydney Mozart Society for securing the services of such an ellite group and its part in the superb programming." You can read his full account of the concert on the ClassikON website
The concert was recorded by ABC Classic FM and broadcast on 4 May.
